Feeling drained and unmotivated to study? Discover how coffee can help improve focus, alertness, and even fight depression. Learn about the science behind coffee and its effects on the brain, as well as tips on how to incorporate it into your study routine. Whether you have a high or low tolerance for coffee, find out how it can help you stay energized and motivated during your study sessions.

As students, we have a lot on our plate. We are always expected to be good at everything: sports, music, studying, volunteering, and a whole lot of other things. Although everything is essential, STUDYING is most important, isn’t it? “Grades don’t matter,” “Grades don’t define you” This may be true, but as the unpopular opinion says, they are essential.

To sum up what I talked about above, GOOD STUDYING=GOOD GRADES (it may not be accurate for everyone, but that is how it is for most people). I know how much pressure is put upon us for studying and getting good grades; sincerely, I get the pressure too. Some people enjoy studying, but for those who don’t, guys and girls: WE HAVE AN ESCAPE (unfortunately, from the boredom, not from the studying). If you are one of those people who gets drained the moment you see an assignment or open the textbook, this article is for you.

Alright, now that we have established that studying can be tiring, and trust me, even the top 1% of the student population gets bored or tired of studying at some point, we need something that will motivate us, push us, and get the studying done, (obviously, we need something else because we can’t push us ourselves). COFFEE is simply our lifesaver. Before getting into the science of it, I would like to give a shout-out to coffee itself. Doesn’t it taste so bitterly tasty? Just drinking while studying will energize you anyway, but now the question is, why coffee?

Well, it has been controversial whether coffee helps make us more alert and focused for a long time. The truth is, it does. Not so straightforward, is it?

Coffee has caffeine. Caffeine cuts off all the sleep signals that go to your brain. It also helps consolidate memory, i.e., it allows your brain to store information in long-term memory. And the best part of drinking coffee is it can help you fight depression. Our generation faces many mental health issues; what can be better than a drink to help us cure them? It helps increase focus, increases alertness, and enhances our mood. Don’t worry; there is some hope that you’ll enjoy studying.

BUT, (unfortunately, there is a but) it has side effects and may not work for everyone. The side effect is also conditional. Everything is interrelated. Confused, right? Let me explain. Think of coffee as alcohol; everyone has a different tolerance, right?

Similarly, some people have high coffee tolerance, and most are lucky because they get the benefits of drinking coffee, and their sleep cycle isn’t doomed either. People with low tolerance may have issues sleeping after drinking coffee. However, some people with high tolerance have no effect of coffee on them (not so lucky, are they?). This can also happen if you are a regular coffee drinker. After a certain period, your body becomes immune to the effects of caffeine. I have a low tolerance for coffee, so it is easy to pull all-nighters studying.

It is incredible how a drink can affect us so much.

In conclusion, there is a way to study with complete concentration in this world of distractions and not get tired of it. I would always recommend studying in study sessions instead of studying non-stop and getting drunk on coffee; taking short breaks between the sessions will also help you relax. Coffee is always there to help, but you have to do the work.

Lastly, ask yourself the question again what do you prefer? 'Dozing off or coffeeing up?'
