The old theory of mass-producing students in an industrial fashion is long gone. Being present in a classroom with 30 other similar-aged peers and rotating from one subject to another has become outdated.
It may have been useful in the industrial era, but things have changed in the Informational Age.
It is not something new to be told that schools are getting more and more “useless” in the eyes of students today. As we exponentially approach a society in which the value of facts and the access to “google-ing” increases, we face a huge problem with the outdated school systems that aren’t enabling students to prepare for the 21st century
As historian, philosopher, and best-selling author of 'Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind,’ Yuval Noah Harari, expresses in his quote above, that the need for a production line of students is over. In other words, we now need a society of creative, critical, and innovative students that can not only thrive in the knowledge-overloaded environment but, learn to grow and adapt to take advantage of the changing society.
Although the changes in education are slow and careful to expand, there are ongoing efforts to radically change the way, learning is developed in students.

6Cs: Collaboration, Communication, Content, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Confidence.
This is a model based on research in student growth and development that addresses the 6 main skills that are required in an ideal education. A recipe for enabling the fullest potential of a student.
All of the 6Cs are critical in creating a learning experience that improves and enhances the old-fashioned, “Industrial Education.” It's important to take note that Content, or facts, still remains on the list. Even though as much as we love to google everything, being aware of necessary knowledge and facts is crucial in the larger, overall scheme of things.
📓Content is a skill that is important because these skills are interrelated and help us academically AND prepare us cognitively as individuals.
Need for evolution 📈
As the world is constantly moving forward with new innovations and technologies, there is no doubt that the job industry will become radically different than what we see today. There will be new jobs and opportunities that were previously unseen, unregarded, and more importantly undiscovered.
We should focus on developing adaptable skills that will ensure our successful futures as students. If we want to keep up, we have to learn critical skills that will help us stand out in the fast-paced world.
LinkedIn predicts 150 million new technology jobs in the next five years, and almost all of the roles in LinkedIn’s “Jobs on the Rise” report for 2022 can already be done remotely.
In addition to remote jobs, Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence will also contribute massively to the changing environments. This allows for most fields with hard skills requirements to be handed over to more efficient technology and AI. This means that soft skills like communication, collaboration, leadership, etc. will be in high demand and those that are prepared will excel.

According to world rankings, Finland ranks consistently among the best-performing education system in the world.
South Tapiola High School ( also known as ETIS) is a school in Finland that offers a curriculum that is centered around real-world learning. “ETIS offers a curriculum that seeks to develop skills such as collaboration, entrepreneurship, active citizenship, and social awareness through real-world application. For example, the school has a Young Entrepreneurship Program, where students work in groups to design and create their own businesses and then compete in national competitions against other young entrepreneurs. Or there's the school’s European Parliament for Young People Program, which provides a hands-on experience for learning civic duty. Here, students participate in national and regional sessions with students of different backgrounds to discuss current challenges in the European Union. The school also partners with tech companies such as Microsoft and Dell to integrate technology into the curriculum.”
